As you’ve probably heard, a really important election season is now underway. Oh … no … we’re not talking about that one. Sure, it’s important who’s elected President of the United States and which party controls Congress. But if you need a short break from politics, there’s a really fun and fascinating contest in which anyone can vote electronically RIGHT NOW! No need for a paper ballot!
Voting opened August 10th and will conclude on September 20th in the 2020 “Who Wrote Shakespeare?” Video Contest! The Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship, on March 20, challenged contestants to give us their “take” on the authorship question in videos of three minutes or less, for a chance to win the $1,000 first prize, $500 second prize, or $250 third prize. The SOF is now asking you to give us your “take” on the ten videos that reached the finals. View the ten finalists and vote for your favorite here!
Anyone visiting the contest site can take part in electing the winners, so after enjoying the creative array of productions and voting yourself, be sure to invite all your family and friends through email, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media to watch the videos themselves and vote for their favorites too!
You’ll be helping to introduce as many people as possible to the SOF website and the Shakespeare Authorship Question that brings us together: Who really wrote the plays and poems of “William Shakespeare”? Was it a businessman from Stratford-upon-Avon with no clear evidence during his lifetime linking him to any literary career at all? Or was it, during that Golden Age of Pseudonyms, a hidden author using “Shakespeare” as a pen name?
The winners will be announced on Saturday, October 3, 2020, during the SOF online Shakespeare Authorship Symposium.
