Policy Regarding Announcements of Member Publications and Creative Works
The Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship (“SOF”) is pleased to support awareness of completed scholarly and creative work by its members relating to Shakespeare, Edward de Vere, the Earl of Oxford, the Shakespeare Authorship Question, and related Elizabethan subjects.
From time to time, the SOF may announce or promote qualifying member works through the SOF website, email communications, or other official SOF channels. Such announcements are intended to inform members of recent contributions within the Oxfordian community and to encourage continued scholarship, discussion, and creative engagement.
Submission of material for possible announcement is subject to the following guidelines and conditions.
1. Membership Requirement
Only current members of the SOF may submit works for possible announcement or promotion.
2. Subject Matter
Submitted works must relate substantially to one or more of the following:
- Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford
- The Shakespeare Authorship Question
- Shakespeare studies
- Elizabethan history, literature, culture, or politics
- Closely related Oxfordian subjects
The SOF reserves the right to determine whether a submission falls within these subject areas.
3. Completed and Publicly Available Works
The SOF generally announces only completed works that are publicly available or scheduled for confirmed public release.
Examples may include:
- Books
- Published articles or essays
- Podcasts
- Films or documentaries
- Public lectures
- Educational or scholarly media projects
- Dramatic or literary works relevant to Oxfordian studies
Unpublished manuscripts, works-in-progress, preliminary drafts, speculative proposals, or informal creative concepts are unlikely to be selected for announcement.
4. Submission Requirements
Members submitting works for consideration should provide:
- A final-version announcement written by the submitter
- The announcement in Word format
- Relevant publication or release information
- Any relevant links
- Any approved cover art, images, or promotional graphics the submitter has permission to use
The SOF may request additional information or materials if needed.
5. Timing and Scheduling
Because the SOF maintains an editorial calendar and uses outside website support services, members should provide at least three (3) weeks’ advance notice before any desired publication or release date.
Submission of materials does not guarantee immediate publication or promotion.
6. Editorial Discretion
The SOF reserves the right to:
- Decline any submission
- Edit submissions for clarity, length, formatting, grammar, tone, or style
- Determine whether, when, and in what manner a submission may be announced or promoted
- Delay, shorten, or remove announcements at its discretion
Generally, only one announcement per project or release will be published.
All publication and promotional decisions remain within the sole and exclusive discretion of the SOF.
7. No Endorsement
Announcement or promotion by the SOF does not constitute endorsement of the work, its conclusions, or its opinions by the SOF or its Board of Trustees.
The opinions expressed in member works are solely those of their individual creators.
8. Professional Standards
The SOF reserves the right to decline submissions that it determines, in its discretion, are inappropriate, defamatory, insufficiently complete, unrelated to the SOF’s mission, or inconsistent with the professional standards and reputation of the organization.
9. Changes to Policy
The SOF may revise or update this policy at any time without prior notice.
The SOF deeply values the scholarship, creativity, and dedication of its members and appreciates the many ways members contribute to continuing discussion and exploration of these important subjects.
