Exploring the evidence that the works of Shakespeare were written by Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford

Tulane panel discussion livestream November 8, 7pm Central Time

It is not often that academia takes the Shakespeare Authorship Question seriously, so be sure to register for this free online event put on by Tulane University.

The four person panel will consist of Ros Barber, novelist and Lecturer in English, London University, Earl Showerman, President of the Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship and two Tulane professors, Dr John Ray Proctor III, Department of Theater, and Dr. Scott Oldenburg, Department of English. Tulane University First Year Experience and Honors Scholars Instructor Lyle Colombo has arranged the discussion which will be moderated by journalist and literary critic Elizabeth Winkler.

Elizabeth Winkler’s new book, Shakespeare Was a Woman and Other Heresies: How Doubting the Bard became the Biggest Taboo in Literature, is an “extraordinarily brilliant” and “pleasurably naughty” (André Aciman) investigation into the Shakespeare authorship question, exploring how doubting that William Shakespeare wrote his plays became an act of blasphemy…and who the Bard might really be. It is the first in-depth investigation into academia’s reaction to research questioning William of Stratford’s authorship of Shakespeare’s works. The Guardian calls it “a fascinating detective story… whose irreverence is part of its appeal.”
