Seeking Editor for the Shakespeare Oxford Newsletter

The Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship, a U.S.- based non-profit, is seeking an editor for its quarterly newsletter. The Fellowship conducts and embraces research focused on Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, increasingly regarded as the true author of the works attributed to Shakespeare. The Newsletter serves as the Fellowship’s intellectual commons and living record—a place where Oxfordian scholarship, discussion, news updates and community announcements keep members connected throughout the year. The editor is encouraged to see the Newsletter as a lively forum that keeps members informed and intellectually engaged.

The editor will possess strong editorial and planning skills and the ability to work with people involved in other aspects of the Authorship issue.

You must be an SOF member in good standing to qualify for the position.

Editor’s Responsibilities

Supervise the completion of four issues of the Shakespeare Oxford Newsletter annually, including a wide range of exciting variables:

• Gather, commission, assign, write or edit articles, essays, letters, book reviews, and community news, on topics such as developments, publications, media coverage, and world events relevant to the Shakespeare authorship question.
• Highlight conferences, lectures, member achievements, organizational news, and other upcoming events of interest to the Shakespeare Oxford community.
• Coordinate copyediting, layout, printing, and production (with the assistance of contractors or volunteers, as available).

The Editor will communicate regularly with the Chair of the Communications Committee and the editor of The Oxfordian (an annual volume of scholarly works).

Compensation

• Stipend will be based on experience.
• Approved expenses will be reimbursed.
• Complimentary registration for Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship annual conferences is included.
• Volunteer service considered on an individual basis.
