Earl Showerman Affirmed as President

Earl Showerman
Earl Showerman was elected by members to lead the SOF.

Earl Showerman was affirmed for a one-year term as president of the Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship at the Annual Business Meeting on September 25, 2022. Also affirmed were Tom Woosnam as Vice President, Bonner Miller Cutting as Secretary and Richard Foulke as Treasurer.

Julie Sandys Bianchi left the board after serving two terms, the maximum allowable. Earl was elected first to fill her space and was then elected president. Bob Meyers, the outgoing president, remains on the board.

The Nominations Committee of the board proposed the four successful candidates. They had to be affirmed by the membership, unless challenged. SOF member Steven Sabel initially announced his intention to compete for the presidency after receiving 30 petitions supporting his effort (the By-Laws require only 10 petitions). There had never been a head-to-head election for a board seat before. Alex McNeil, the former Administrator of the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and Bryan H. Wildenthal, a professor of law in San Diego and Oxfordian scholar, agreed to supervise the unprecedented election.
