SOF members are invited to join a two-part Zoom discussion of Oxfordian Frank Lawler’s 2022 translation of Behind the Mask of William Shakespeare by Abel Lefranc, which was written in French and published in 1918.

Lawler’sannotations clarify obscure matters and include references to current scholarly findings and research.

The first discussion, hosted by Kathryn Sharpe, will be April 1 at 10:00 AM Pacific time US. If you would like to join, please contact Kathryn at info@shakespeareoxfordfellowship.org.

This informative new translation will fascinate anyone interested in the rich
history of the Shakespeare authorship question. Abel Lefranc and John Thomas Looney (the first person to identify Edward de Vere as Shakespeare) were founding members of the Shakespeare Fellowship in England.

They believed their candidates had likely worked together, while disagreeing on who was the primary author.

Professor Lefranc was a respected academic with impeccable credentials as an historian of 16th century French and English literature. His alternate candidate was William Stanley, the 6th Earl of Derby (Edward de Vere’s son in law). Lefranc’s knowledge of European life, history, and the Court of Navarre brings long-overlooked insight to the identity, knowledge, and beliefs of the writer of Shakespeare’s works.

The date of the second discussion will be determined by attendees and a reminder that if you are not already a SOF member, you can join by clicking here.
