Conference Admission

Full conference registration includes all conference materials, numerous coffee/tea/Danish breaks over the four days, a buffet lunch on Saturday, and the closing awards luncheon on Sunday. Daily rates are also available.

The full conference registration fee is $275 for SOF members and $300 for non-members.

Daily fees are $75/day and an extra Sunday luncheon can be purchased for $40.

Students with valid ID may attend conference presentations at no charge (meals not included).

 



VENUE

Marriott Oakland City Center

The conference will take place at the Marriott Oakland City Center (1001 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94607) in the ballroom and also the Skyline Room on the top floor of the hotel. The Marriott is well located and may easily be reached from either the San Francisco or Oakland airports by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit).

LODGING 

As of September 12, reservations are no longer available at the Marriott at our special group rate. You can call the Marriott at 877-901-6632 to see if any rooms are available at regular rates.

Check with these nearby hotels:

Oakland Waterfront Hotel, 10 Washington St., Jack London Square. 1 mi. from Marriott (15 min. walk), $209 + tax, Sunday $169 + tax, marvelous for access to SF. $30 night parking.

Executive Inn & Suites, 1755 Embarcadero, 592-6237, $203-$233 + tax – very comfortable, parking. 1.8 mi. to Marriott.

Rose Garden InnTelegraph Ave & Parker, Berkeley (in the quiet part of Telegraph Ave, but not near BART), some parking on premises, $215 + tax, great breakfast. 510-549-2145.

Washington Inn Hotel495 10th St (around the corner from Marriott), parking $15/night, $139 + tax.

Shattuck Hotel, 2086 Allston Way, downtown Berkeley right by BART, 510-845-7300. $279 + tax.

Additionally, there are many other hotels further away with lower rates. If staying at another hotel, you may want to get one with access to the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) system since the Oakland Marriott City Center is located across the street from a BART station and parking at the Marriott is quite expensive ($40 self, $45 valet).

PRE-CONFERENCE RECEPTION IN NAPA ON OCTOBER 10th

Napa Hedingham

The Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship and the Horatio Society invite you to a Reception for the 2018 SOF Conference on: Wednesday, October 10th, at Ben August’s Napa House and Castle, 1070 Orchard Avenue, Napa, CA 94558. Ben August will pour fine Napa, French and Italian wines. Cheeses, breads, fruits and pizza will be served.

The SOF has arranged for bus transportation to the reception. A professional tour guide will tell us about the many places of interest on our way through San Francisco, Marin and Sonoma counties into Napa Valley. The trip will begin at 3 pm at the Oakland Marriott Hotel and arrive in Napa by 4:30. The bus will return us to the Marriott that evening. The price for the excursion is $20 for the food and wine reception and $20 for the round trip bus. You can pay in cash as you enter the bus and again when you arrive in Napa.
