The Seattle Conference is just months away!
The SOF’s annual conference in Seattle is coming up fast and the deadline for proposing papers and presentations is coming up even faster. This is your friendly official reminder.
Proposals are due April 15th
The deadline for all paper proposals, presentations and panels is April 15. Many have already been submitted. If you haven’t submitted yours yet, please do so now.
Proposals are being accepted on any aspect of Oxfordian and authorship studies but we are encouraging presenters to think North By Northwest — Madness, Travel and Discovery in Oxford’s Shakespeare.
Presenters should send a 250-500 word abstract plus 2-3 sentences of biographical background (if a new speaker) by the upcoming deadline to the Conference Chair:
Prof. Don Rubin
York University, Toronto
E-mail: drubin@yorku.ca
Papers can be 20-, 30- or 45-minutes (please specify your preference) and all presentations must include a minimum of 5 minutes for questions). Panels can be 60 or 90 minutes. A limited number of pre-recorded video presentations (maximum 25 minutes each) will also be accepted.
Rooms are booking up, make your reservation soon
If you haven’t yet booked your hotel, it probably makes sense do so as soon as you can. A credit card is all that is needed to hold your room. No deposit is required. Rooms also go quickly.
This year we are meeting at the beautiful Grand Hyatt in Seattle with presentations to begin on Thursday, Sept. 24th at 1 p.m. That session will be followed by a wine and cheese reception. Presentations will continue on the Friday and Saturday with Saturday’s events including an awards banquet. A boat tour of the Seattle harbor is one of the tourism highlights included in each registration.
If you can stay, the organization’s Annual Business Meeting will take place on Sunday morning, September 27.
As announced earlier, the SOF negotiated a very special group rate for the conference — $259 per night (single or double). That rate is guaranteed for the Wednesday before and the Sunday after and should be honored for even further extensions. If any problems with your booking, please contact Conference Chair Don Rubin and he will try to solve any issues.

Conference registration is open
Official registration for the Conference itself is also open at this point through the SOF website on the 2026 Conference page. Set at $325 for the public, a $25 discount will automatically be given to all SOF members with an additional $25 discount for anyone registering on or before August 23, meaning that for most, the conference cost will actually be $275. This special conference rate is also extended to partners of members.
Conference space, as always, is limited by our facilities. Please note: our last three conferences in New Orleans, Denver and New Haven were all sold out weeks in advance. Book early to insure your place.
