The Earthquake

The excerpt on the right from the February 1941 News-Letter (sic) of the The Shakespeare Fellowship, American Branch, is a reminder of the how perilous that year was in wartime Britain.

The newsletter also contains commentary on Shakespeare’s Will, Shakespeare and Mark Twain and find an article by Eva Turner Clark on the English earthquake of 1580 which supposedly set the date for Romeo and Juliet as 1591.
